MARUI plug-in brings VR modelling and animation in Maya and Blender supporting Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows MR headsets

MARUI is a plug-In for Autodesk Maya and Blender that allows 3D CGI Artists to animate and modelling in VR with an Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows MR headsets.

The Japanese startup “MARUI-PlugIn”, that implements the software,  claims that  VR workflow  can reduce production costs by up to 50%.

The production of 3D models is much more intuitive working into an infinite work space, with a User Interface fully customizable. THe tools seems to be really performing for animation, low poly modelling, conceptual VR sketches and collaborative design.

 The plug ins is available for Maya at $50  for a monthly license and $550 for a perpetual license and Blender…obviously for free!

The Maya versions supported are 2014, 2015,2016, Maya2016 Extension2 (2016.5), 2017 and Maya 2018.
 Maya LT is not supported. Currently, MARUI is only available for Microsoft Windows (Windows7 or later).

An educational version is available specifying  use case and purpose.

A lot of tutorials and example on the YouTube channel.
